For years, portrait and fashion photographers have considered the 4-foot Octa the "Goldilocks" modifier—large enough to create beautifully soft, wrapping light for full-length or half-body portraits, but compact enough to easily manage in a home studio or on location. With this redesigned, next-generation Profoto Softbox Octa (4'), Profoto has completely eliminated the most frustrating part of using large modifiers: the setup time.

Ditching the older RFi system of separate rods and speedrings, this modern softbox features an all-in-one integrated mount. It folds open and closed just like an umbrella in seconds, meaning you spend less time wrestling with heavy fabric and more time actually shooting. Paired with a highly reflective silver interior, it delivers incredibly efficient, crisp, and flattering light that perfectly illuminates your subject while creating beautiful, natural round catchlights in their eyes.

• Instant Fold/Unfold Setup: No more bending stiff metal rods or trying to remember which holes to use on a separate speedring. The speedring is built directly into the modifier, allowing the entire softbox to snap open and lock into place effortlessly in a matter of seconds.

• High-Output Silver Interior: Unlike a matte white interior, this reflective silver interior maximizes the light output of your flash. It delivers a slightly punchier, higher-contrast light that is fantastic for bringing out details in fashion and beauty photography while still maintaining a buttery smooth fall-off.

• The Perfect Portrait Catchlight: Because of its eight-sided, circular shape, the reflections it creates in your subject's eyes look entirely natural—mimicking the sun or a round studio reflector, rather than the unnatural square catchlights caused by rectangular softboxes.

• Customizable Softness: The softbox includes a removable 1-stop front diffuser and an inner baffle to eliminate hot spots. You can use both for incredibly soft light, remove the front diffuser for more specularity, or even swap out the included diffusion for optional 0.5-stop or 1.5-stop diffusers depending on your creative needs.

• Universal Profoto Mount: The integrated speedring perfectly fits all standard Profoto 100mm light heads natively (like the D2, D1, ProHeads, and B1X). It can also be paired with Profoto's battery-powered A-series flashes by using a separately available OCF Adapter.

If you are a long-time Profoto user, it is important to distinguish this new model (simply named "Profoto Softbox Octa") from the older, classic "Profoto RFi Softbox Octa." The older RFi models require you to purchase a separate speed ring and manually assemble the rods every time you use it. This newer generation features the built-in, umbrella-style folding mechanism that drastically speeds up your workflow.

Additionally, because this features a highly reflective silver interior, the center of the beam will be slightly brighter ("hotter") and more directional than the white-interior version of this exact same softbox. If your goal is the absolute softest, most forgiving light possible for sensitive skin textures, you may prefer the White Interior version; if you want efficiency, contrast, and punch, this Silver Interior model is the clear winner.
