Powered by 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors with up to 32 cores per CPU, the server delivers enhanced compute capabilities. It supports up to 24 DDR4 DIMM slots for a maximum of 4 TB of memory at 3200 MT/s. With six PCIe Gen4 slots, the system offers increased I/O bandwidth, enabling high-speed connectivity and expansion for accelerators, storage controllers, and networking.

The HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus Server requires high-performance heatsinks (P41668-B21) whenever Intel Optane Persistent Memory, TDP higher than 165w, 256GB LRDIMMs, or GPUs are installed. Additionally, the optional Drive Cage 3 is supported only with Standard Heat Sink Kit.

The High-Performance Air Baffle Kit (P41660-B21) is required when using high-performance heatsinks to ensure proper airflow and cooling across the system. When Standard Heat Sink(s) is (are) installed, Standard Air Baffle Kit is required. When neither Drive Cage 3 nor High Performance Heat Sink is installed, Standard Moddle Air Baffle Kit is required.

HPE OCP Thermal Enhancement Kit P28727-B21 This SKU is required for OCP options requiring better thermal condition. 5 dual-rotor fan modules come standard and up to 14 Fans with a 3rd drive cage and rear drive cages installed.

Memory | 24 DIMMs

The HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus Server features a robust memory architecture with support for up to 24 DDR4 DIMM slots, delivering a maximum capacity of 4 TB at speeds of up to 3200 MT/s when paired with 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors. This system also supports Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory 200 Series (PMem), which provides up to 4 TB of additional capacity per processor socket for memory-intensive applications. The combination of DDR4 and Optane PMem enables greater flexibility, scalability, and performance, making it ideal for workloads such as in-memory databases, big data analytics, and AI/ML applications. However, to utilize Optane PMem, balanced configurations with standard DDR4 memory are required, and limitations may apply when using higher TDP CPUs or populating Drive Cage 3

Rules and Limitations
  • Mixing of LRDIMM and RDIMM is not supported
  • Mixing of x4 and x8 memory is not supported
  • Mixing of 3DS memory and non-3DS memory is not supported
  • 24LFF supports up to four 256GB LRDIMMs
  • 48SFF supports up to six 256GB LRDIMMs
  • 1P 3rd Gen Intel, max 4 Intel Optane Pmem
  • 2P 3rd Gen Intel, max 8 Intel Optane Pmem
  • Mixing of capacities of Persistent memory is not allowed.
  • Pmem requires a High Performance Heat Sink (P41668-B21)
  • Pmem not supported with Drive Cage 3
  • Pmem requires an RDIMM or LRDIMM to be configured.

Drive Cage 3 is an optional, front-facing drive bay that expands the storage capacity and flexibility of the HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus Server. Below are the key details, options, and limitations:

  • 4 LFF SAS/SATA Drive Cage (P28702-B21) 24 LFF ONLY
  • 8 SFF NVMe/SAS/SATA Drive Cage (P28703-B21)
Drive Cage 3 cannot be installed with:
  • CPUs over 165W TDP
  • High-performance heatsinks
  • Intel Optane Persistent Memory (PMem)
  • 256GB LRDIMMs
  • GPU accelerators

The 8SFF Drive Cage 3 has 6 smaller fans attched for cooling. The 4 LFF Drive Cage 3 does not have any fans.

This Server supports two riser options for the Primary Slot and two riser bundle options for the Secondary and Tertiary Slots, with one required for each. These risers enable up to six PCIe Gen4 slots, providing high-speed connectivity for storage controllers, accelerators, and networking cards. In dual-CPU configurations, the Secondary and Tertiary risers connect to the second processor, ensuring balanced performance and optimized PCIe lane utilization. For OCP cards requiring improved thermal conditions, the HPE OCP Thermal Enhancement Kit (P28727-B21) is mandatory. This kit ensures adequate cooling and optimal performance by integrating into the server's thermal architecture. When installed, the kit is positioned in the primary riser slot, directly above the OCP card, providing targeted airflow and maintaining thermal stability even under high workloads. This design allows seamless integration of high-performance OCP networking solutions while safeguarding system reliability.

Since this server is so dense and has so many options. When a GPU is installed, a lot of other features are not supported. Below is a list of rules and requirements that must be followed for this Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus server to support GPUs.

  • The Drive Cage 3 is not supported when this SKU is selected.
  • This SKU can only be installed in PCIe Slot 6, 2nd processor is required.
  • Processors over 165W are not supported when this SKU is selected.
  • Memory DIMMs over 128GB are not supported.
  • Intel DC Persistent Memory DIMMs are not supported.
  • When GPU is installed, High-Performance Heat Sink Kits (P41668-B21) are required for processors

The HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus Server requires high-performance heatsinks (P41668-B21) whenever Intel Optane Persistent Memory, TDP higher than 165w, 256GB LRDIMMs, or GPUs are installed. Additionally, the optional Drive Cage 3 is supported only with Standard Heat Sink Kit.

The High-Performance Air Baffle Kit (P41660-B21) is required when using high-performance heatsinks to ensure proper airflow and cooling across the system. When Standard Heat Sink(s) is (are) installed, Standard Air Baffle Kit is required. When neither Drive Cage 3 nor High Performance Heat Sink is installed, Standard Moddle Air Baffle Kit is required.

HPE OCP Thermal Enhancement Kit P28727-B21 This SKU is required for OCP options requiring better thermal condition. 5 dual-rotor fan modules come standard and up to 14 Fans with a 3rd drive cage and rear drive cages installed.

The HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus Server features a robust memory architecture with support for up to 24 DDR4 DIMM slots, delivering a maximum capacity of 4 TB at speeds of up to 3200 MT/s when paired with 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors. This system also supports Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory 200 Series (PMem), which provides up to 4 TB of additional capacity per processor socket for memory-intensive applications. The combination of DDR4 and Optane PMem enables greater flexibility, scalability, and performance, making it ideal for workloads such as in-memory databases, big data analytics, and AI/ML applications. However, to utilize Optane PMem, balanced configurations with standard DDR4 memory are required, and limitations may apply when using higher TDP CPUs or populating Drive Cage 3

Rules and Limitations
  • Mixing of LRDIMM and RDIMM is not supported
  • Mixing of x4 and x8 memory is not supported
  • Mixing of 3DS memory and non-3DS memory is not supported
  • 24LFF supports up to four 256GB LRDIMMs
  • 48SFF supports up to six 256GB LRDIMMs

Drive Cage 3 is an optional, front-facing drive bay that expands the storage capacity and flexibility of the HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus Server. Below are the key details, options, and limitations:

  • 4 LFF SAS/SATA Drive Cage (P28702-B21) 24 LFF ONLY
  • 8 SFF NVMe/SAS/SATA Drive Cage (P28703-B21)
Drive Cage 3 cannot be installed with:
  • CPUs over 165W TDP
  • High-performance heatsinks
  • Intel Optane Persistent Memory (PMem)
  • 256GB LRDIMMs
  • GPU accelerators

The 8SFF Drive Cage 3 has 6 smaller fans attched for cooling. The 4 LFF Drive Cage 3 does not have any fans.

This Server supports two riser options for the Primary Slot and two riser bundle options for the Secondary and Tertiary Slots, with one required for each. These risers enable up to six PCIe Gen4 slots, providing high-speed connectivity for storage controllers, accelerators, and networking cards. In dual-CPU configurations, the Secondary and Tertiary risers connect to the second processor, ensuring balanced performance and optimized PCIe lane utilization. For OCP cards requiring improved thermal conditions, the HPE OCP Thermal Enhancement Kit (P28727-B21) is mandatory. This kit ensures adequate cooling and optimal performance by integrating into the server's thermal architecture. When installed, the kit is positioned in the primary riser slot, directly above the OCP card, providing targeted airflow and maintaining thermal stability even under high workloads. This design allows seamless integration of high-performance OCP networking solutions while safeguarding system reliability.

Since this server is so dense and has so many options. When a GPU is installed, a lot of other features are not supported. Below is a list of rules and requirements that must be followed for this Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus server to support GPUs.

  • The Drive Cage 3 is not supported when this SKU is selected.
  • This SKU can only be installed in PCIe Slot 6, 2nd processor is required.
  • Processors over 165W are not supported when this SKU is selected.
  • Memory DIMMs over 128GB are not supported.
  • Intel DC Persistent Memory DIMMs are not supported.
  • When GPU is installed, High-Performance Heat Sink Kits (P41668-B21) are required for processors
