Storage Build or GPU Build?
This R740xd is configured for storage. It ships with 750W power supplies and no GPU enablement kit, so it isn't set up for a datacenter GPU. If you want GPU compute, our GPU builds come with the enablement kit, 1600W supplies and the right cooling already installed:
Frequently Asked Questions
How much usable space will I get?
30.7TB raw. In ZFS RAIDZ2 or RAID 6, expect roughly 26TB usable before compression. Mirrors give about half of raw.
Why an HBA330 instead of a RAID card?
ZFS, Ceph and vSAN want direct access to each disk. The HBA330 passes them through untouched. We can swap in a PERC H740p if you prefer hardware RAID.
Can I add a GPU to this one?
Not as configured. GPUs need the enablement kit, low-profile heat sinks, a high-performance fan kit and 1600W supplies. Our GPU Ready build already has them.
Does it come with an operating system?
No. It supports TrueNAS, Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Proxmox and major Linux distributions. iDRAC Enterprise lets you install remotely.
What warranty applies?
The Resilient Tec lifetime warranty. If something fails, we send an advance replacement when we have one in stock, or repair or replace it with an equivalent.
